lens-artists challenge #109 – under the sun

Amy, I have been under the sun for nearly 2 weeks and I can’t say I enjoy it every day, but for a great theme/topic.

They say that we will have a couple of more days … so I try to enjoy the best I can.

But there have been days that have been too hot for my comfort.  In all honesty, I’m longing for a bit of nice soft rain now.

  1. Thank you, Vive for this beautiful under the sun series! Wonderful to see sunshine in different part of the world. 🙂
The summer heat is unbearable here. We are longing for some rain, so much needed.

  2. Coming from the sunburnt country rather naturally I have to smile ! With oft weeks without a cloud in the sky or a drop on the garden and into our waiting dams we are SO glad when the gift of rainclouds arrives !! But then, as if to ‘make up’ we get 200 mm _ in 24 hours and the bushfire-ravaged land is covered by floods as we have just seen now . . . . perhaps you in ‘moderate’ Sweden would find this rather difficult to live with . . . 🙂 !

    • Eha, I couldn’t live where it’s hot like were you’re … not built for that. *smile – We had 52 wildfires going on in the summer of 2018 here in Sweden … had to have help from most of EU. Watching the weather report this morning – the heat is here for the whole week … We had a quite cold July with good amount of rain, but it doesn’t help mother nature just now. Our country isn’t built for heat like this … we don’t have A/C in our homes. But it’s what it’s and I will enjoy my lunch out in our backyard today too. At least I got a nice tan this year. *smile I have started to wear me Las Vegas sunhat again.

      • Horses for couches, Vivi 🙂 !!! Just looked up your weather for the week to come and you are not supposed to go over 22 C ? Heavens that is our winter midday and we have heaters on 🙂 !! High 30s C are just beautiful . . . and I have never had air conditioning . . . truly !!!!!

      • Eha, somebody has got it wrong … we had +28 today and it’s getting warmer over the weekend. But as you say compared to you down under … is like winter. *laughing. I love A/C … when it’s hot, but I want the room to be warm as I enter for a while and the A/C on. I suppose it’s what we are used to. +30 I would be able to handle for very long even with A/C. When I was young warm weather was never a problem, but after 60 … getting worst for each year and it’s also getting warmer in Europe for each year. Last year was +40 in the Netherlands.

      • *huge laugh* Technical 🙂 ! I use ‘Worldweatherr’, ‘accuweather’, ‘BBC weather’ etc and they all naturally say the same thing !! Some days develop a few more degrees. Yes, the differences are bigger than I realized – today is a lovely, we regard as cool,, winter’s day here – cloudless 8 C – 24 C and we simply cannot wait for the 30 C + temps to kick in next month. Until April next year !!! OK – over 42 C I’ll complain a wee bit also !!! You have lovely still days – it never blows less than 30-40 kph here and many days are above 60-70 kph !! I totally keep away from AC as it is SO bad for heart, lings and immunity . . .

      • Eha, with BBC can get it wrong. *smile Just woke up to fully blasting sun +26 already. Going to be a hot day. I will do my best to survive. I know it took me quite a few years to understand why I always caught a cold in summer when I was on holiday. A/C!!!! So you’re so right in what you’re saying. Today my Las Vegas sunhat will come to use again. Only really used it in Las Vegas, where the sun was grilling. Glad I took with me to Sweden. I wish you a pleasant day or evening or ….

  3. Excellent photos and quotes. Great perspectives and points of view. Love the glass building and the sunglasses. I wear sunglasses, but I’m not Jack Nicholson!! 🙂

    • John, I don’t think that there is that many Jack Nicholson around. Thank you so much for visit and your cheering on comment. Brought a smile to my sunny morning.

  4. I’m with you on the rain toio, Viveka – lovely set of sunny things. And i adore the Nicholson quote. Love people with a distance to themselves.

    • Tina, I’m sure he did … I think he has a great sense of humor. The problem was in Prishtina that they didn’t have any postcards, so I collect images myself to make postcards of when I came home. The sunglasses was one of the images I used. Today I do all my postcards myself. So tired to run around and to find post offices. Postcards never a problem to find, but the stamps and through our National Mail (online) we can create our own postcards with the postage included in the price for the whole world ($2.00 per card) … the same price. Excellent set up. Tina, thank you for your faithful support and cheering on. *smile

    • I’m doing okay in the sunshine … but I can’t say I love it. *laughing. At least I got a nice tan again this year. It was an early lovely crisp Christmas Day morning … in Krakow. I loved to walk around in the Jewish Quarters, maybe not so pretty as the Old town … but a lot more to see, very bohemian. Thank you so much for your concerned thoughts.

  5. I’m with you Viveka, I’m not built for heat either. Unfortunately, it looks as though we have a few more days to endure. But soon we will be back to our normal and pleasant temps.
Love the images and quotes and might I say, I’d take your Salade Niçoise any day.

    • Ron, I saw that the weather is here to say over the weekend – had a pleasant day today in our backyard … with a nice breeze and great company of a girlfriend. I will say that my Salade Niçoise is one of the best on the market (retired chef) – even better any many you can be served in Nice. smile – you are welcome to one whenever you fancy. *laughing. Thanks for the lovely comment.

      • *hugest smile* So glad you two agree as Ron had already previously pointed out my ‘erroneous’ ways re what summer is like in Sweden !! Let’s leave it but am giggling that UNDER 30 C could be considered more than ‘barely warm’ . . . oh boy, you two would not ‘last’ here . . . you probably would not like all the very many poisonous snakes or spiders either (just joking !) . with love to both . . .. .
