One pair of the sixty of period-appropriate shoes out of iron that is included in “The Shoes on the Danube Bank”, a memorial in Budapest, Hungary, by sculptor Gyula Pauer. That honor the Jews who were killed by fascist Arrow Cross militiamen in Budapest during World War II. They were ordered to take off their shoes and were shot at the edge of the water so that their bodies fell into the river and were carried away. It gives remembrance to the 3,500 people, 800 of them Jews, who were shot into the Danube during the time of the Arrow Cross terror

THaAaaaAanks!
Viveka – you always come up with the best photos, but this one might be my favorite ever. The images are perfect and the quotes are beautifully matched and thought-provoking. One of my personal favorite images, which is one of few I have framed on my walls, is my own image of the shoes on the Danube. I think that memorial may be the most moving I’ve ever seen. Your image is stunning.
Tina, thank you so much for your kind words … that memorial is very hard to make justice … so that was why I decided to zoom in closer on the shoes. It’s one of those memorials that really touch both heart and soul. Because it’s in your face and when you look at it … you can see what really happened. Thank you so much again.
I agree with your sentiment, Tina
A hearty thank you, Sue!
Welcome!
So well done – as always, Viveka. Love them all, and the perfect quotes. The piglets are just great!
A-C, thanks … the piglets was in great mood. My friend Irish was all dressed in white … and when she went up to them … the got out of the mud and both shakes their buttock and you can imaging how she looked after that. Brilliant. She toke with a big laughter.
Hahaha:-D She took it nicely! I am not sure I would have, not immediately…
Yes, she is a good sport – she cleaned herself up at the cafe .. the best she could.

The burger picture makes me hungry…
Hope you are doing well?
Many hugs and a big kiss xo 🙂
Thanks, Dia ….. the burgers was very nice … and the setting they were served at … made them very tasty. I’m hungry too … chicken in the oven just now and it starts to smell good. DinnerHug … we have to talk soon. Miss you.
I’d love to snatch those two kittens up and hold em forever!
Yes, they were so adorable … there was one more, but it was so shy. They were wild, so I wasn’t able to pick them up … but we were fun anyway.
Love those piggies in the mud!
Yes, they were very cute.

Great post, Viveka. I love the quotes, your images and the song. Well done!
Patti, thank you so much …. it was a very fun topic to work with.
