Far too early. I remember one winter, not too long ago, I spent nearly every winter evening watching old videos of him that I had never seen growing up. Loved him.

You’re first on my list …. with nearly one bike per person in Holland.
I think there are more even. Each Dutch citizen owns 1,1 bicycles.
So that means more or less that …. every adult has 1,5 bike each. Amazing.

I don’t know how old the figure is that I found. Still very goof 99,1% of the population has a bike. So how come that you have so many cars ????? *laughing …
The statistics are from lobbies and sales organizations. But not from the official Statistic Agency (www.cbs.nl). The bike is used for short transport mostly. We ride billions of km’s on bike but by car 176 billion. Mostly longer distances.
Which is why It’s so pleasant to travel the streets in these parts of Europe, no road raging or as much smog, just air and relaxed riding 🙂
Andy, doesn’t matter if loads of people on bikes – the smog is still there, but a little less … still too many cars around. And I tell you cyclists create more rage than car drivers, because they don’t thing traffic rules are for them .. terrible, they just do as the want .. not even stopping for red light. As pedestrian you will dangerously over here .. because we share paths. Very nice way to get around .. good for body and soul when you’re the countryside.
Shoot, even there you got bikers running lights huh? I see that here all the time, Like I would stop at the red light in my car and a guy on a bike will keep rolling, WITH cars moving because he knows people will stop to let him through. Wha?
Yes, they make up the rules as they bike along … and some has serious speed – look at all those delivery bikes in the big cites … I don’t understand how they survive. In Denmark are they a lot better than over here. So more polite against everyone else and they stop at red light – I’m sure they do that in Germany too … they don’t even walk against red light. *smile Well trained.
Indeed well-trained! sigh If only the western world would take a page from them on etiquette 🙂
That’s a great collection of shots on the theme. It almost makes me want to buy a bike! I actually used to enjoy cycling until I moved to the city and then I found it too intimidating and stressful. I haven’t been on a bike, therefore, for twenty years. I would probably die if I tried.
I haven’t been on a bike since I left Sweden in 1989 – and my new bike was damage in our basement fire last year .. never been on it. Over here cyclists so well looked after with special path even in the big cities. More important than us pedestrians those days. I tell if once learn how to cycle – you will always be able too. Just jump and paddle away. *smile

I have been very busy with my Japan trip. My friend Nancy wanted to join me – so I had to start all over nearly. Now it’s all done, but my “sorry ass” had a couple of tough days. So sore. *smile.
