cee’s fun foto challenge: orange & green

Orange has also been a colour that I been drawn too, but last year I started to add orange pieces to my wardrobe – one by one  .. and no I have a whole section with jacket, jumpers, shoes and handbag. And whenever I wear orange I get compliments. I think it’s because I get noticed and it’s a colour that makes people smile. When I wear orange I feel so good .. and it makes me happy. I wear it in combination with navy blue or all shades of grey.

  • Orange is often biblically associated with saints and represents strength and courage
  • Wearing orange says you are a fun-loving and trendy person.
  • Orange ribbons are worn to support and raise awareness for many conditions and causes including self-harm, ADHD, Multiple Sclerosis and Animal Cruelty.
  • Orange is often biblically associated with saints and represents strength and courage.
  • Orange is the Dutch Royal Family’s color. Descendants of William of Orange, the color became the symbol of the Netherlands.

“Orange is the happiest color.”
Frank Sinatra

I love green … I have green in my entrance hall and in my kitchen. I should also wear green, but I don’t do it … my eye is green. I have a pair of silk trousers that I love … had them for over 20 years and still going strong. This summer I have worn them together with orange.

  • Green is the second most popular favourite colour, after blue.
  • Green is considered the colour of peace.
  • Suicides dropped by 34% when London’s Blackfriar Bridge was painted green.
  • Green is the colour used for night-vision goggles because the human eye is most sensitive and able to distinguish the most shades in that color.
  • The human eye is most sensitive to the colour green.

“Green is the prime color of the world,
and that from which its loveliness arises.”
Pedro Calderon de la Barca

  1. I love your photo examples to go with your explanations, Vivi. I love green and I find it interesting that most greens seem to be slightly different hues/shades/whatever you choose to call it. If I were to wear orange, it would have to be a deep orange but it would go well with the black I like to wear. I’d love to be able to wear cheerful yellow, but it make me look sallow.

    Happy Friday!

  2. *smile* Have just walked around the house to make certain ! Nothing orange, nothing green ! Not in decor, not in any piece of clothing !! I adore gardening . . . yes, there is a surfeit of green there . . . I remember back to a few pieces of olive-toned shirts, but I could not bear any form of orange inside . . . there is a beautiful standard pale orange rose on my driveway . . . glad you enjoy such . . .

    • Wow, no colour at all in your life????? I’m the total opposite – for me, there is not colour enough in the world. I’m not a big black fan .. especially not against my face. I like all shades of grey and beige.

      • Vive la difference ! There is colour, perchance in different ways 🙂 ! My modern sofas and chairs in the living areas are Italian and white; the dining suites are glass and limed bamboo with cafe au lait cushions; the main bedroom is specifically built deep cream with copper handles . . .it needs to be that to cope with the art works like 300-400 year old Korean money chests in darkest browns, in Korean chest-on-chests in deepest wine, in huge timber ‘windiow’ hung as a painting, from Portuguese Macao going back hundreds of years and in various shades of brown . . . that together with Persian rugs on all floors with all their usual red tonings . . . and then all the modern Australian art on the walls and the many Pacific artifacts . . . all of these demand a neutral background ! Oh, and naturally there is green in the dozens upon dozens of pots of living plants . . . 🙂 !!

      • Eha, thanks for inviting me into your home … I can see in front of me. Like it very much … I’m very envy over your money chest. *smile

      • *huge grin* I DO wish the money was in the purse at the moment and not on the walls or floors . . . turning such into cash is usually a losing proposition !!!

  3. I love both the oranges and the greens, but surprisingly the green was much more vibrant to me, mebbe it’s because we’ve had a year of horrendous wildfires out here in California. Thank you for sharing!

    • My pleasure … and thank you for being such fantastic support to me and my pictures. Are the fires still going on .. don’t hear anything about them on TV over here anymore. It’s terrible and it’s getting worst year after year. Poor people, nature and animals. Devesting.

      • They are still going on. The size fluctuates, right now they are smaller than they were, but we still need thousands of firefighters to be on active duty. Mexico has loaned us firefighters. Canada, too. And other states.
