oscar’s highlight

Normally I don’t watch the Oscars to the full. I love to check out the Red Carpet – but that is about this. I don’t why I decided to watch the award ceremony and I’m so glad I did … because otherwise, I had missed the night’s highlight, Eminem’s performance of “Lose Yourself” from the movie “8 miles”. He got the whole Dolby Theatre to rock … and me too.

I’m not an Eminem fan … or I normally don’t listen to rap, but this has made me moved for the last 2 days … glad our house is well isolated, otherwise, my neighbours have gone made… listen to the same song for 4-6 hours per day, but on the other hand have I got some exercise. Great workout track.

What I understand was his performance at the award was a total surprise for the dress to kill audience.

Why he agreed to do the performance had to do with the fact that he never got to do the song live when it won. He also wasn’t in attendance in 2003 to accept the award, either. It became the first rap song to win the Best Original Song award.

‘Lose Yourself’ jumped nearly 2,000% in downloads following the Oscars performance and I’m one of them!! The song may have appeared on many more workout playlists today, as “Lose Yourself” sold 4,000 downloads on Sunday, jumping 1,894% over the previous day.

“Lose Yourself” granted Eminem his first of five No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2018, it received a diamond certification from the RIAA for U.S. sales exceeding 10 million.

It is nice to see that the normally slender and boyish-looking guy has put weight on and now look like a MAN (47 years)!! It a long time since a man has made me do so many moves … as he has during the last 2 days.

“Somewhere deep down there’s a decent man in me,
he just can’t be found.”

    • Yes, Rock on!!!! The music performances were fantastic, but otherwise, I found Oscars very boring this year. Probably for all the winners … was so expected, but I loved that a foreign film won. There need some changes to Oscars .. the same for 92 years. Love the dresses. *smile …

      • I only had time to see 7 of the 9 nominated movies, so I did enjoy the show more. I also enjoyed hearing the back stories of many of the nominees. These were televised in the hours preceding the actual awards show. I keep waiting to see more diversity in the nominees – especially more women in the non-acting categories. Hopefully next year… 🙂

      • I totally agree about the diversity … there has been talked about that for years now .. and they don’t seem to listen. *smile I think the pressure is on now .. especially after that Natalie Portman dress. Great way to get the message across, but still there is a lot of women that aren’t happy. Can’t be easy to be a star at times.

    • Anne, yes … the whole audience more or less … for me it was the first time I had heard the song. What a performance. I suppose if it has won an Oscar in 2003 it’s a well-known song in the US. He rocked the Oscars for sure. Which was very dull and boring otherwise.
