the amazingly talented martynas levickis

Libertango by Astor Piazzolla one of my absolute favourite music pieces – “Libertango” by the Argentinan tango composer Astor Piazzolla, recorded and published in 1974 in Milan.

One of my absolute favourite music pieces and I think it is because of my passion for Argentine tango … that I have dreamed for 40 years to learn to dance, but I never came around to it … one of my biggest regrets in life. When I lived in Belfast they had an Argentine Tango Club and I never joined, lived there for 10 years and never made that phone call.  Have only myself to blame. Today it is not possible, because I suffer from peripheral neuropathy in my feet and it’s getting worse by each year, so the dancing shoes have to stay on the shelve.

Last evening I was out cruising on the internet and I found this video, just have to share – what a fantastic accordionist, Martynas Levickis ( born1990 in Tauragė ) is a Lithuanian accordionist. (His website:

Here he preforms together with the Seoripul Symphony Orchestra – that I guess it is the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, that under the yearly Seocho Seoripul Festival (September) takes on that name.

At the age of twelve, Martynas began participating in national and international competitions and festivals in Lithuania, Italy, Poland, France, Belarus and Estonia.

Martynas as a London Royal Academy of Music students’, more than thirty national and international accordion competitions winners’ solo concert tour in Lithuania.

Martynas has performed at venues including the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Shanghai Concert Hall, Waldbühne Berlin, Konzerthaus Berlin, the Seoul Arts Center, St Petersburg Grand Philharmonic Hall, St John’s Smith Square, Wigmore Hall, Kings Place, the Auditorio Nacional in Mexico, and at festivals such as Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schleswig-Holstein, Dresden, Bremen, Thüringer Bachwochen, MDR Musiksommer, Kissinger Sommer, the International Chamber Music Festival Utrecht, Bath, Dartington, Edinburgh Jazz, Gaida, Henley, Leigo Lake, March Music Days, Petworth, Plush, Spitalfields and St Magnus.

On on Valentine Day is he performing in Olso, but it’s a bit narrow of time – but I will catch him somewhere in Europe. Because I think his concert is a real treat and far from boring. Looking at his concert at Compensa Concert Hall in  Vilnius, 8th of March 2021. Never been to Lithuania, they are already selling the tickets.

Here on this video he takes on Vivaldi’s “Winter” … and talk about playing the socks off the piece. JUST AWESOME!!!!!
