lens-artists photo challenge #76 – on display

… what a fantastic fun and playful topic Amy came up with for this week – “On display” – Love it!!!

“A visit to Marrakesh was a great shock to me.
This city taught me color.”
Yves Saint Laurent

This is a pure luxury for me and totally out of reach too – about all in Majorelle Blue of course at YSL shop at his beautiful Jardin Majorelle, Marrakesh – December 2016

“Nespresso… What Else?”

Very tidy, but no George Clooney. Nespresso shop in Malmö, Sweden – January 2015

“Modern paintings are like women,
you’ll never enjoy them if you try to understand them.”
Freddie Mercury

One of Canadian Jeff Walls’ lightbox images (really fell in love with his art) … at display at the fantastic Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebaek, Denmark – May 2015

“It takes great courage to write great books.
Find your courage and find your voice.”
Kristen Lamb

When I visited Gdańsk, Poland ..  last month I visit “Cafe Oficyna” every afternoon for a piece of their “Bezkowa” cake. The cafe is located in the Oficyna Gdańska, which is a city publishing house publishing books about Gdańsk, founded by the Gdańsk Foundation. And they had this posh bookshelf – November 2019

“Fish, to taste right, must swim three times –
in water, in butter, and in wine.”

Visited the little market hall in Costa Nova, Portugal – one hour drive south of Porto (famous for their candy-striped houses) – May 2018

“Christmas is the season when you buy this year’s gifts
with next year’s money.”

And of course, we need a Christmas display – this window I met as I walked along  İstiklal Caddesi in Istanbul  – one of the busiest streets in the world. Visited by nearly 3 million people in a single day over the course of weekends – December 2014

I’m not a fan of Christmas music … but this song I love!!!! Last Christmas Eve was I dancing (not a pretty display) to it with these two ladies at their little cafe at the Dry Bridge Market in Tbilisi on Christmas Eve – one of my best Christmas ever.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

(Istanbul here I come!!! – again)

(Sorry, but the video … isn’t my work – shared from Youtube)

  1. Fabulous theme for ladies who love to shop (even just window shopping, like me 🙂 ). It’s forecast a much needed rainy week here in the Algarve (it started this afternoon already) so I may even visit a few myself. I love your quotes too, Vivi. Wishing you all you wish yourself (with hugs 🙂 )

    • Yes, Amy really nailed it this week. I don’t shop much anymore in shops, but I love window shopping … online shopping I’m brilliant on. They will have sunshine in Istanbul this whole week coming, but for the weekend when we arrive it starts to get a bit iffy, but no rain what I can see so fare. You can get some of our rain … every day more or less for 6 weeks now. So sicken by it, but I know that South of Europa needs rain, you had it very hot for a very long time. Maybe you can get a white Christmas … Athens had snow a couple of times the last years. Girlfriend, here comes plentiful ChristmasHugs.
