My 5th visit to this beautiful and friendly city!
Neither the weather or my feet will place here because both behaved very badly.
Best pillows – (Pokoje Goscinne ASP) Basic, comfortable, clean … and friendly and helpful – with the most superb location. Staying above the rooftops of the Old town, only steps from the Długie Pobrzeże, the canal promenade.
In a listed building with an elevator on top of the Student House of the Academy of Fine Arts.
The first room I was allocated wasn’t bigger than a prison cell plus it was very cold. It was an apartment I had booked, but the other room was locked. So I asked why I was given the single bed … and 5 minutes later I had the key for the double bedroom. It was basically furnished with the same stunning rooftop view … and it was warm, plus the bed had a tick comfortable duvet. The bathroom is very spacious with a big walk-in shower and heat towel rail. The pantry was just a microwave, water kettle, and fridge.
The reception was there for the students but it also serviced the apartments, 5th and 6th floor (but only elevator to the 5th) … so helpful and friendly. I paid $124/£98/€113/1200SEK for 4 nights.
Best cake – (Bezkowa) when I arrived it was very misty and drizzle … and after I had installed myself I just had to indulge myself in a good cup of coffee and some none calorie cake. Just opposite my apartment building “Cafe Oficyna” was calling on my attention.
There I have introduced to the “Bezkowa” … the most delicious cake I ever had and it was love at first sight and every afternoon I went back for more love. Their cakes are made in Sopot.
The cafe is located in the Oficyna Gdańska, which is a city publishing house publishing books about Gdańsk, founded by the Gdańsk Foundation.
Best breakfast – (Cafe Libertas) – which I had googled before take off. Only 2 minutes’ walk from my front door … and with very high reviews both with TripAdvisor and Google it was really a no-brainer. And everything said about this little cute is true. What a lovely place to start the day!!!!
What a lovely place to start the day!!!! And the food (taste and presentation) just superb plus the big and friendly smiles it was served with. Top Class!!!!!
I enjoyed all my breakfast at the cafe … and the staff was waiting for me with big smiles and they kept my table because it is a very busy little place. I eat through the whole menu … every morning I got a very tasty start. Only the little touch with the fresh white roses on the tables made it so much more special.
Best hairdresser – Svetlana at “Trendy Hair Fashion” on Pańska 9/11. I thought I had booked with them … but they couldn’t find my name with any of their 3 salons and when I showed them the SMS I got from their booking site … it meant that I was only registered with them. But Svetlana took care of me straight away, they gave me 2 minutes to collect my stuff from the cafe (Deker Patissererie & Cafe) next door where I had enjoyed a salt caramel cake and a very good coffee.
One of the best haircuts I ever had …. I just love Polish hairdressers … they are so meticulous and they always use new ideas. Like after she had cut my hair she washed the hair again … and as she finished off the styling she used the hairdryer as she sprayed it.

For the best event … the best burger … the best taxi driver … the best dinner and the best evening – do you have to wait on.
“The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched.
They must be felt with the heart”
Helen Keller
What a lovely time you had, Vivi! And I agree with a Helen Keller’s quote….
Yes, I really had a lovely time …. even if the weather wasn’t on my side. I really like that quote too. Thanks, Sue!
You’re welcome!
Lovely as ever, Viveka! Gdansk is Gdansk and the people and the food is delicious. Beautiful shots as well.
Yes, Gdansk is Gdansk … so friendly and so much to see and do … and to enjoy. Thanks a million.
