lens-artists photo challenge #70: monochrome

Monochrome is not really my forte … but I found some on file .. all from my favorite city – Chicago. All images from July 2015.

If I ever win a dirty amount of money … I have said that I will buy one of the penthouses in this building – Aqua. Aqua is an 82-story mixed-use residential skyscraper, that also houses the Radisson Hotel. Designed by a team led by Jeanne Gang.

The Penthouse …. will cost me about $6 million. But with a view like … this!!! I’m more than willing to pay …. keep on dreaming, Viveka!

Chicago’s famous “L-trains” – The Chicago “L” – began revenue service in 1892. It is today the fourth-largest rapid transit system in the United States in terms of total route length.  The “L” gained its name because large parts of the system run on elevated track. Very noisy, especially if you are walking under the track … !!!!!

Pretty flowers that I met by the Buckingham Fountain.

The Union Jack at the Chicago Tribune building.  Founded in 1847, and formerly self-styled as the “World’s Greatest Newspaper”. The Tribune’s masthead displays the American flag, in reference to the paper’s former motto, “An American Paper for Americans”. Located in the Tribune Tower, one of Chicago’s Landmarks today.

Chicago skyscrapers capture on the Cloud Gate (Silver Bean) at Millennium Park – a sculpture by Anish Kapoor. It was unveiled in 2006.

“Eventually, I think Chicago will be the most beautiful
great city left in the world.”
Frank Lloyd Wright

  1. Hi, Viveka. You picked one of my favorite cities! I love it. I haven’t seen the new Aqua tower, but I wouldn’t mind living in that gorgeous penthouse! Your shots of the “Bean” in black and white really work well. Glad you joined us!

    • Patti, have you missed the Aqua Tower???? It is next to Hyatt on the Riverwalk. Chicago is a FAB city in so many way … I love the people there. The “Bean” is a fantastic piece of art .. and so the Crown Fountain. Just love Chicago. Thank you so much for keeping the fun coming. *smile

      • Yes, I missed it!! I don’t know how! It is a great city. Our son lived there for a few years. Who knows? Maybe he’ll go back there at some point.
