50 shades of grey – christmas eve in kraków

… wet and loads of grey, but also filled with loads of Christmas.

This morning for breakfast I enjoyed smoked salmon with cream cheese and chive, a glass of champagne and freshly squeezed carrot and orange juice, followed Egg Benedict.

Back on room 15 at Queen Boutique Hotel,  my room had already been looked after by Santa I suppose, because he had left a gift on the desk for me.

Beautiful wrapped  … homemade by the hotel’s chefs; cranberry & orange chutney and pumpkin jam with cinnamon – both with a little label telling us it is made with love. I’m sure that’s true. I think there is lot of love in their kitchen.

What a lovely gesture from this fabulous hotel and what a fantastic start to a Christmas celebration.

Now it’s getting a bit brighter outside, so time to take the rain wind protection on … and visit the old Jewish town, Kazimierz – just across the street.

Everything is closed here today.

So far … loads of feeling good in Kraków.

    • Poor horses???!!!!! Poor Wivi … that has been out again in rain and wind and not able to get even a cup of coffee today. But in all honesty I felt sorry for the horeses too yesterday. It was bitterly cold and VERY wet. Today a lot more pleasant, but still wet. Yes, this hotel make their guests feel very special .. from the moment we arrive. TOP CLASS!!! Here comes a ChristmasDinnerHug.

      • No coffee!!! I think most things will be closed tomorrow. Have you a plan? I’ve got beef in the slow cooker for this evening, then we’re going to James’ tomorrow lunch time. Very quiet here 🙂 🙂

    • A-C, one of the best hotels I stayed on … TOP CLASS on everything – and handsome young men providing the best customer service. Breakfast out of this world. I’m truly spoil for a very good price. Been out walking in the drizzel for 4 hours, everything closed could even get a cup of coffee anywhere. Been in the less pretty parts of the city … tomorrow the pretty part.

    • Maralee, it was a perfect start …. of Christmas escape. It was impossible to escape Christmas in Kraków. Had a wonderful time, but it’s nice to be back home.

  1. It looks like such a wonderful trip and Christmas! So nice of the hotel staff to surprise you with gifts. Sounds like a very unique kind of chutney and jam too, very special. So kind and going above and beyond to make your stay a great and memorable one. Have a great holiday 🙂

    • Merry Christmas, Mabel … thank you so much. Yes, I’m looking forward to try out the gift. Yes, a lovely touch from the hotel to give all their guests a home made gift. Today the first day with out any rain, but no sunshine … but it’s okay. Yesterday I spent in the less pretty part of the city, but very intresting … today it’s the pretty part of the city that will get a visit from me. I promise I will do my best to enjoy myself. *smile

      • Hope you had a great time in the pretty part of the city. And when you are traveling, a lot of the time any place you go is quite the experience, good or not so good. Looking forward to reading more from your travels, Vivi. Enjoy yourself heaps and take care, stay safe, be good 🙂

      • Mabel, I’m not really after fine dining … I’m after great food adventures and they are to be find in the most unexpected places. Poland is still a “cheap” country … with the SEK most of the world has become expensive. USA is a no go for me … the dollar has gone strong … and hotel rates has gone through the roof.
I enjoy sharing them with you. *smile
