We had some terrible weather the last 3 days … very WET and so dark and that is for me quality time with Netflix. Just now they have same superb series going on; 3rd season of “The Fall”, “Designate Survivor” with Keith Sutherland (brilliant series), Narcos ( a chronicled look at the criminal exploits of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar)- 2nd season (2 more planned), my all time favourite “House of Cards” is back next year for the 4th season and with another series planned and the last 3 days I have start watching “The Crown” that had premier 4th of November.

The Netflix original series about Queen Elizabeth II. Just one word: FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!

Been in living in the UK for nearly 20 years I know that the Royal Family is close to being a religion for most of the British people and she is one amazing lady .. that has soon been 65 years on the throne and nearly without a wrinkle has this lady become 90 years old and still going strong. I admire her from a distance! She was only 25 years old when she became Queen of England.

So now Netflix has released their series about her and as they present the series – This drama follows the political rivalries and romance of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign and the events that shaped the second half of the 20th century.

Peter Julian Robin Morgan is the creator of the series, a British film writer and playwright. He is responsible for two other works of fiction about Elizabeth, the play “The Audience” and the film “The Queen”. Morgan declined all offers of assistance in researching the script, stating that he did not want to be affiliated with the Palace in any way.

It’s also a story about how Prince Philip adjusted his life to Elizabeth’s. What he had to give up … to be the man walking beside her in all those years and Winston Churchill’s part in her early reign.

Queen Elizabeth II may be the most famous person in the world whose goal is to be totally unknowable.

John Lithgow is the only actor that I’m familiar with, but Clair Foy has been in many British TV-series .. like “Upstairs Downstairs” from 2010-2012. Matt Smith has been in “Dr Who” – a series that I never agreed on. Jared Harris is an Irish actor, I don’t think I ever saw in anything .. but has Elizabeth father, Bernie … he is brilliant.

And it also brings up the affair between Princess Margaret and Peter Townsend and how that affected Elizabeth.

Have only seen 2 episodes of the series so far, but in my book all the actors, are strong in their respective fields. Also, they are very look alike. So far, the episodes I saw went by quickly with me wanting to see more, back to watching this afternoon. 10 episodes in total.

A lot of effort has been put into the research and accuracy of the story line. Slick and well executed. Like any family, the British royals have weathered trials and tribulations, which is exactly what is at the heart of The Crown. You can tell that no expense was spared …. it has cost around £100 million, which would make it the most expensive TV series in history.

Even if you’re not a royalist at heart – I think you will enjoy watching this. There are reports that the Royal family are anxious about The Crown, but they shouldn’t be, it’s gentle and respectful storytelling.

And of course, the music – that Hans Zimmer and Rupert Gregson-Williams has scored the soundtrack. Which should tell you the talent that is behind this epic series. Netflix has done it again and I already hope there will be more seasons to come. I give it 10/10!!!
