sl-week 24: machine

新幹線 –  The Shinkansen!!!

It started with the Tōkaidō Shinkansen in 1964.
The Shinkansen is extremely reliable. In 2014, JR Central reported that the Shinkansen average delay from schedule per train was 54 seconds.
This includes delays due to uncontrollable causes, such as natural disasters. The record, in 1997, was 18 seconds.

I traveled aboard Nozomi 43 – departure time 15.10 from Tokyo Station to Kyoto … 12th April this year, at a speed of 325 km/hr (201.94mph). A distance of 513,6 Km – 318,6 miles.

The journey took 3 hrs 21 min, 2 hours faster than with a car in light traffic.
The smoothest train journey I ever done!!!
