This morning I visit my friend Frank@A Frank Angle and his musical “Life” and act 12 is about Love. As a visitor, you have can add a YouTube video to your choice of song on the topic. And for me there is only one song, even of most of my favorite songs is about love.
and I got the urge to re-blog this post again, because it’s such a great song. I still listen to this track everyday.
So here you have – for me – the biggest love song of them all.
************
This is the ultimate love song for me. It came to me for about 2 years ago … when I was looking around on YouTube – found a this video with Bryan Ferry, once the sexiest man on earth in my eyes … nearly 30 years ago, when “Let’s Stick Together” drove my neighbors mad. He still have his sexy voice … just love it. He would have to ask twice. His version up to today is my absolute recorded favorite – please take your time to listen to it. My music cloud you can stop in the end of this page.
Adele has made her version that has became a massive hit all over the world, but I don’t like her version, that makes two of us – Simon Cowell are not a fan neither. At least I’m in good company and very knowledge too.
X-factor UK 2010’s runner up – Rebecca Ferguson sang it on the show and probably the best version so far, but she hasn’t recorded it yet.
The song is written by Bob Dylan and it appeared on his 1997 album “Time Out of Mind”. Many covers have been made – it also was featured on the soundtrack of the 1998 film “Hope Floats”, directed by Forest Whitaker and sang by Garth Brooks.
Wasn’t able to get the Bryan Ferry’s version on “SoundCloud” – but I found this… which I think is a fantastic version, a bit unclear who sings – not stated. Somebody has guessed that it’s Kris Allen – never heard about him, but found a video with him singing the song on YouTube and I’m now sure it’s him – it’s the same track. An absolutely stunning … version. Have fallen even more in love with this song now.
I have none what so ever romantic memories with song and I play at least once per day. Sometimes can I play it for hours … all over. I think it’s a great to have a favorite love song that isn’t connected with a special man, that brings bittersweet memories – just a song that makes me complete and makes me feel good in body, heart and soul. Isn’t a love song when … we love it ?????!!!!
“Make You Feel My Love”
Bob Dylan
When the rain is blowin‘ in your face
And the whole world is on your case
I could offer you a warm embrace
To make you feel my love.
When the evening shadows and the stars appear
And there is no one there to dry your tears
I could hold you for a million years
To make you feel my love.
I know you haven’t made your mind up yet
But I would never do you wrong
I’ve known it from the moment that we met
No doubt in my mind where you belong.
I’d go hungry, I’d go black and blue
I’d go crawlin‘ down the avenue
No, there’s nothin‘ that I wouldn’t do
To make you feel my love.
Though storms are raging on the rollin‘ sea
And on the highway of regrets
Though winds of change are throwing wild and free
You ain’t seen nothin‘ like me yet.
I could make you happy, make your dreams come true
Nothing that I wouldn’t do
Go to the ends of the Earth for you
To make you feel my love.

Choc Chip Uru
Uru, I know that feeling … have already played it twice during my vacuuming cleaning, make it much more pleasant.
I love this song choice. I adore this song and did/do like Garth’s version. We shall include it in our village juke box. 😉
Yes, of course .. every version there is. Haven’t heard Garth’s version – have to go to YouTube straight away.
I think I’m so fond of it because it’s the “first” version I ever heard.
I have added a Garth video to the post now. All in your honor.
Awwwwww! You make me so happy. 🙂
i understand your words. to have the comfort of the beautiful words, and yet no man involved is a love so strong that it can carry us through our life………..hugs
One of my favourites too
It’s a song that goes over all ages too. I can just listen to it for hours.
Beautiful song…thanks for sharing.
My pleasure .. *smile
Very touching.
thank you …..
There’s a country singer, Garth Brooks that did this song as well. It’s very nice 🙂
Yes, there is a video on my post with him singing and I mention in my post too – he sang it for soundtrack for a movie. I like his version too – I love the song in any shape and form. *smile
I’m sorry, I missed that some how. He was in the movie “Hope Floats” I think. Yeah, it is a beautiful song.
You’re so spot on … yes, that was the film … haven’t seen it, something for my bucket list. *smile
It’s pretty good actually, I have a copy of it. It’s good 🙂
I like Forest Whitaker .. who has directed the movie. So I will see if it’s for download ..
Hope you enjoy it. I saw it waaaay long time ago 🙂
Will check rental.
🙂
Ohhhhh…. I’m not familiar with this song. It’s beautiful and makes me miss my mann so much! Thanks for bringing it here…x
Wendy, glad you liked it … but sad that you have to miss your man. So where is he and where are you ???
What a beautiful song…
So glad you like .. it. Have listen to it twice today. Just love it.
Musical morning wake up! thank you Viveka 😀
Andy, you are so welcome .. I listen to this song .. at least once a day .. to keep my romantic heart in shape. *smile
Have a great Love-Able Thursday.
It may very well start to become my daily need too 😀 thank you!
Love Bob Dylan, you should listen to Girl from the North Country, it’s really beautiful.
I’m not that keen on Dylan, I met him a couple of years ago when he traveled with us … and he was the most ignorant person I ever met, but I didn’t really like him before neither, but I love this song.
His ignorance doesn’t surprise me, he was rubbish in concert 10 years ago, and very, very short, so I couldn’t really see him, but hey, I like his old stuff 🙂
Hey hold on!! You met him!!! Sorry that only just sank in! Did you work with artists?
No, I worked for Stena Line .. and he traveled between Belfast and Scotland.
Well that’s still cool you met one of the greatest songwriters of all time! Even if he is ignorant…
I dont’ think he was sober .. *smile
Nicest guests we had … wast Boyzone, Westlife and Henrik Larsson.
Love Ferry, and Dylan was a hero when I was just starting to think. No way not to share this, Viveka. Hope your day was happy!
Love Ferry too – sexy man. *smile
I had day full of laundry .. and now is it time for my big ice-cream bowl.
Viveka, that music makes me all goose bumpy. Reminds me of dancing slow when I was a kid and how gooey and romantic we were at that age. Life changes but music can take you back there in a minute. Very nice.
Susan, this comment I have totally missed, so sorry – Susan. Better late than never they say. I’m sure that you are still gooey and romantic together with the right person.
Viveka, thanks for commenting anyhow 🙂 I am still gooey and romantic over here.
That sounds great to me *smile
Bryan Ferry is such a cool guy! love this song! Hope you enjoyed your special Valentine’s with you and yourself 😉 xo
Dia, that sounds a bit naught … *laughing.
I did laundry and had some ice cream. *smile
What a beautiful insight into what now ‘seems like’ Adele’s song, yet who’d have thought the lineage of the song goes all the way back to Dylan.
Great post Viveka
Thanks Carl, I think it’s fantastic song … like Simon Cowell I can’t really stand Adele – Rebecca did the best ever version – but not recorded so second best work wonder with me – Mr Ferry. I love the song in any version … just mad about it and the best of all I don’t have any bittersweet memories with it.
Just listened to all the versions you’ve posted, quite like the Ferry version now
I like his broken whisky voice, always done. Plus he once was one of the most sexiest men on earth in my eyes – he are still sexy.
The man just breeds style, even for us men to admire
He really does …. you nailed it – he has always been well dressed and no scandals.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh….. haven’t listened to this since christmas on my guilty pleasures compilation! Just goes right to the core. x wendy
I knew it will hit you, Wendy – as the first time … it’s such a wonderful song – the lyrics just goes straight into the deepest.
Aah, one of my sentimental favourites! Thanks for the many versions 🙂
Yes, it’s a such a fantastic song … not a Dylan fan, but he got that right .. I just just love Bryan Ferry’s version .. but I listen to this song in any shape and form .. at least once per day. Don’t like Adele!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What a lovely reblog this cloudy morning, Vivi 🙂 I was confused at first because Ferry was singing in the background, but the newer version is an absolute beauty. Thanks for sharing. Have a happy day! 🙂
Good Morning, no Ferry has never sung in the background – his version is not on Soundcloud, it has always been this track as background ….. who cares because the background version is so beautiful too. You have a good day too. Going to visit friends over the weekend.
Love the words of this song. So very romantic. I really enjoyed Garth Brooks singing it. 🙂
Syliva, so do I – for me, it’s an ultimate love song. By the way haven’t you have a visit by the postman?????
When I read your comment, I went out to check my postbox, and sure enough, there was your packet all the way from Sweden. Thank you so much, Viveka. I know I will really enjoy listening to these CD’s. Love the covers too. So artistic! xx *hugs*
Sylvia, my pleasure …. I was only afraid that they had gone, lost, because others got their 3 days ago over in US.
Enjoy!!!!
I guess that Florida is ar the end of the line. 🙂
Beautiful, beautiful, Viveka! And – today I got a Christmas present in advance! With more beautiful music. I guess you are Santa this time, my friend – BIG hugs and thank you soooo much!
A-C, my pleasure …. so happy that you like it. *smile
