“Live as people always have done, live with animals! If you have not developed an allergy, it’s just that expose yourself a little, it strengthens immune system. So don’t kill yourself with cleaning, little dust is not dangerous. Old hygiene theories that it had to be as clean – has very like to do with health, so we should not be so strict and proper. Make life fun instead ”
Olle Löwhagen
Professor and specialist in allergology.
Fredksdals medical center, Gothenburg.

Great!!!  I don’t have to change any of my “homework” procedures and I promise that the cleaning I’m doing goes a lot quicker – listen to “Queen”on high volume. I really miss Freddie Mercury.

      • Of course I ‘heard’ him in high school and such. But it wasn’t until a few years ago I came across something and I spent weeks watching every video I could find and reading as much bio as I could about him. Such talent!!!

      • His voice was so massive …. and of course he left life far too early. Had only read that he was sick 3 days before … he died. He kept his illness very secret.

  1. I’ve had respiratory allergies for decades, but I’ve been treated and I’ll continue this way all my life to avoid asthma attack(s)…

I miss that stunnin’ guy, too, RIP…

P.S. a French-Swedish couple and their 2 daughters are my wonderful neighbors… her name is Ossy, her parents are from Northern Sweden, they spend 10 months/year here and look after their beautiful grand-daughters! 🙂

    • Tidy is okay … doesn’t mean that it’s messy because we don’t clean every Saturday. Have friends that has cleaned their marriage to pieces.
As somebody has said – it’s better have a dusty corner than a clean hell. *smile

    • Poor thing …. yet, I don’t have anything like that .. !!! Still I think maybe that we have too clean environment today and we don’t get any natural resistance.

  2. 😀 😀 😀 It’s so true – we say in Germany “Dreck reinigt den Magen” – Dirt cleans the stomach. – Look at all these people with allergies…some of them have allergies because they’ve probably grown up in super-dooper sterile surroundings and their bodies don’t know how to handle a little dust 😉 or?
    Big hugs xo 🙂

  3. So true, Viveka. That German saying, from one of your comments, my grandmother always said that too. My family has always lived by that – a little dirt doesn’t hurt – and none of us has got any kind of allergy. Of course we are lucky too, but still. I know I read a scientific report years ago from comparing studies done in the most air polluted areas in Poland and Germany. Children living there didn’t have many allergies and far less of those problems than what we have in Sweden.

    • I totally believe in what they are saying … our homes are fare to clean .. and so with hospitals, that is were we got the hospital bug from plus we don’t get any natural resistance. But it doesn’t mean that we have to live in dirt. Same that we shower fare too often – our skins gets dry and we get eczema.
But I vote for cleaning when it’s needed and put some more fun into life in between. *smile

  4. They say allergies are only for the rich. When my little nieces and nephews fly back to the Philippines they get all these allergies and rashes you can imagine. We grew up in the same environment and I think we are sturdier, healthwise.

  5. I used to spend an inordinate amount of time cleaning….until I started blogging! Now I feel the house is always messy, but I do suffer from OCD 🙂 This does make me feel a bit better though, thanks Viveka 🙂
