“put it them down”

glass of water - .55i8 com

The Professor began his class by holding up a glass with some water in it. He held it up for all to see and asked the students “How much do you think this glass weighs?”
’50gms!’….. ’100gms!’ …..’125 gms’ …the students answered.
“I really don’t know unless I weigh it,” said the professor, “but, my question is:
What would happen if I held it up like this for a few minutes?”…. .
‘Nothing’ …..the students said

time - mindcater com‘Ok what would happen if I held it up like this for an hour?’ the professor asked.
‘Your arm would begin to ache’ said one of the student

“You’re right, now what would happen if I held it for a day?”
“Your arm could go numb; you might have severe muscle stress, paralysis and have to go to hospital for sure!”

….. Ventured another student and all the students laughed
.“Very good.
But during all this, did the weight of the glass change?” Asked the professor.
‘No’…. Was the answer.
“Then what caused the arm ache & the muscle stress?”

The students were puzzled.
“What should I do now to come out of pain?” asked professor again.
“Put the glass down!” said one of the students

.“Exactly!” said the professor.
Life’s problems are something like this.

glass-of-water-sarahbessey comHold it for a few minutes in your head and they seem OK.
Think of them for a long time and they begin to ache.
Hold it even longer and they begin to paralyze you. You will not be able to do anything.
It’s important to think of the challenges or problems in your life, But EVEN MORE IMPORTANT is to ‘PUT THEM DOWN’ at the end of every day before you go to sleep…

    • I thnk its has been used in one of the Twilight films … haven’t seen any of the films – but it’s fantastic piece of music. His most famous piece is “Kiss the Rain”.

  1. Thanks so much for sharing this, Viveka. It makes so much sense. I will try to remember this lesson when I wake up in the middle of the night, and just go back to sleep again, instead of letting my mind run riot. 🙂 Love the song too. xx

    • Sylvia, stress is a terrible feeling and I hope that you will be able to relax and be able to go back sleep. Terrible – when the head is spinning. I’m there to at times.
I love the track too … A Japanese artist. What I understand was it used in one of the Twilight films.

    • Jo, this is not my words … I wish. *smile – it is a post I did a while ago and scheduled because of all the Christmas stress that most of us are in the middle of just now. Foot???? Don’t understand. But I understand the hug and I just wrapped myself in it. Hugs and warm thoughts coming your way.
