the blacker the berry

Been over spending some days with my mum again … and my little camera came along as always those days – wherever I go I have it my bag. It didn’t come out that much from its bag , but going budget shopping it was a given company and we met some lovely berries – and more berries, eatable and none eatable; blackberries, rosehips, snow berries and backthorn.
Have been stuffing myself with blackberries every day. Millions on the bushes. My favorite berry.

So who is Christina Piper??????

Christina Piper, born Törnflycht 1673 in Stockholm, died in 1752 at Krageholm in southern Sweden, was a Swedish manager and entrepreneur, married 1690 to Count Carl Piper (1647-1716). She is best known in history for their business as managers, landlords and contractors. Christina Piper had built several estates, founded several entailed estate and is regarded as the Scanian architectural history major builders. – text; se.wikiepida.org

  1. Whenever I open your blog now, I always look forward to the soothing music that comes with it. My sister said it’s a beautiful music and asked me to learn how you get it into your blog. Hehe

And the pictures! I love them, so beautiful and real, You’re a great photographer and how I wish we have berries in the Philippines that we can grow at the backyard in the province! :) And thanks for the trivia, “The blacker the berry – the sweeter the juice.”

    • You have wonderful fruit and you have pineapples … I been on Dole’s pineapple plants and eat so fresh pineapple that my lips got sore. The music – you have to sign up with Soundcloud.com and look for tracks there that you like – you can also add your own tracks, but not tracks that have copyrights – sometime I manage anyhow – don’t ask me why – then when you click the share button of the track you like you see – wordpress – press on that – you get a short code – you click on customize – make sure you click play automatically – then there comes a new short code in the bottom – you copy that into your post. Or if you want it to stay on your blog – into a widget text box and place is somewhere on your blog. Good luck. I’m here if you need any help.

  2. i love the story about Christina, but black raspberries are my favorite berry of all!!! my grandma told me when i was a little girl i waited patiently for her to make a black raspberry pie. when it was done baking and cooled, she gave me a slice and said tears ran down my face, and when she asked me why i was crying, she said i told her there were bones in the pie. lol, it was the seeds……..lol

    • Yes, the pips are a bit tough in the blackberries – sweet story … Christina was quite a lady living in 1600th century – she has built some stunning estates here in Skåne … still stand and people living in them. Cost an arm and a leg today – they cost probably even more in those days.

  3. This may sound weird but t I don’t eat cheese. But when a friend of mine baked a blueberry cheesecake for a get-together, I ate two slices. I wish we have blackberry bushes on our backyard :)

    • Love cheese cake so I understand you there .. I love cheese in all forms and shapes. But cheese isn’t that great for the old body .. a lot of salt in it. Blackberries are my favorite berries even if I eat any with pleasure.

    • I know … berries taste always best when you eat as you pick. Blackberries are my favorite and they will be around for quite a few weeks, wonder they the love to grow around rail tracks ????

  4. Beautiful post, Viveka! I love blackberries too and that’s what I always look forward to picking up when we go out cycling. Too bad that when the summer is too wet, not many sweet ones are around. ;-)

  5. I’m waiting to roll on the blackberry bandwagon. Ours seem late this year and I’m afraid it will start raining before they are ripe. I’ve got to go hunt down some sunny spots. I love ALL berries. But blackberries are special to pluck off that prickly branch.
